Privacy Notice
LAST UPDATED · 27 October 2026
The Red Halo Archives is an original work of cinematic fiction. This notice sets out what information the website actually collects, how it is used, and the rights you have over it — in plain language.
1 · WHO WE ARE
The Red Halo Archives (theredhalo.com) is an original cinematic science-fiction universe operated by Harold L. Carter III. In-universe, the site presents itself as the public archive of the fictional Red City Investigation Bureau (RCIB). Despite the classified styling, no part of this website is a real intelligence service and no record published here is a real government document.
For any question about this policy or the information we hold about you, write to the address in the CONTACT section at the end of this notice.
2 · WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
- Clearance / newsletter requests. When you submit the “REQUEST CLEARANCE” form we store your email address and the time of your request so we can send you future transmissions.
- Admin accounts. If you are an authorised archive curator we store a hashed password and the timestamps of your sessions. Admin content is never visible to public visitors.
- Clearance progression (local only). Your in-universe clearance tier and easter-egg discoveries are stored in your own browser’s localStorage. They never leave your device.
- Technical logs. Our servers write short-lived request logs (IP, user-agent, URL) used only for diagnostics and abuse protection, retained for no longer than 30 days.
- Embedded media. Pages that embed YouTube videos set cookies on your browser directly from Google/YouTube under their own privacy policy. We receive none of that data.
3 · WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
- We do not sell, trade or share your personal information.
- We do not use advertising cookies or run ad networks.
- We do not profile or track visitors across other websites.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
4 · HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
- To send you the newsletter / clearance transmissions you asked for.
- To keep the archive secure, operational and free from abuse.
- To respond to messages you send to the contact address.
- To comply with applicable law when we have to.
5 · HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
Clearance requests are retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Admin audit logs are retained for 12 months. Technical logs are retained for 30 days or less. Local clearance progression lives on your device until you clear your browser storage.
6 · YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, LGPD and others) you have the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Withdraw consent at any time — every clearance email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to the contact address below.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
7 · THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
- Google Fonts — serves the Rajdhani and Share Tech Mono fonts. See Google’s privacy policy.
- YouTube — embeds the Official Prologue. See Google’s privacy policy.
- Resend (future) — delivers newsletter / clearance transmissions. See Resend’s privacy policy.
8 · CHILDREN
The Red Halo Archives is intended for a general audience 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9 · UPDATES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in a future clearance transmission.
10 · CONTACT
